It was a bleak October day in northeastern Oklahoma back in 1977, when suddenly a rainbow broke through the clouds and I made my first of many dramatic entrances.*  Since then, I've lived a life that some would describe as chaotic, some would call idyllic, but I simply call business as usual.  Though there was the typical drama that comes as part of the "Alcoholic Father + Single Mom" deluxe package (now with extra domestic abuse, constant moving around, and bonus half-sisters!) there was a lot more joy, wonder, and gratitude provided by my mom and her family. Moral of the story: I could have had it a lot worse and turned out pretty damn not insane considering.

But enough about me.  Here's what's up with the blog. At the beginning of 2007, I was an almost-divorced, single mom. The biggest issues in my life were trying to not get fired for taking care of my kids, helping my mom in her recovery from her near-fatal brain aneurysm, and pointedly avoiding the possibility of dating ever again. I spent all my free time with Allie and Avery (then aged 4 and 5), or taking pictures, creating digital scrapbook pages, or writing on my teeny tiny little blog. By the end of 2007, I was about to be laid off for taking care of my kids, my mom had moved to Colorado, and I was happily engaged to the soulmate I didn't know existed.

I kept up the writing for a bit, but dwindled as other things took precedence.  My blog used to be on a platform called VOX, which is now defunct. It was a fun little community, and I was particularly enamored of the writing prompts. I could never use the excuse of "I don't know what to write about" because there were always at least two daily prompts to keep me going. I tell you all of this not to bore you (which I probably already have) but to explain those posts that are tagged QotD or PotD.  These are Question of the Day and Picture of the Day, respectively and though they might not make much sense on a new platform, I didn't really want to lose them. So that's what those are. If you care. You might not. In which case, you should check out this video.
